Nothing Is Wasted — The Beauty of a God Who Sees Everything
Scripture:
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
— Romans 8:28 (NIV)
There comes a time in every life when we stare at the ceiling in the dark and whisper, “Why, God?”
Why this pain?
Why this loss?
Why now?
Why me?
These aren’t the questions of weak faith. They’re the honest cries of a heart that’s been shaken. The cries of someone who’s walked through fire, held shattered pieces of a dream in trembling hands, and wondered if any of it still had meaning.
If that’s you — if you've been through something that brought you to your knees or left you breathless — I want you to know something today:
God saw it.
God was in it.
And God is not done.
He is not the author of evil, but He is the Redeemer of all things broken.
You see, Divine Providence is more than a fancy theological phrase — it’s the lifeline for the hurting, the confused, and the weary. It means that God is not just aware of what you’re going through — He’s active in it.
He is not distant. He is not disconnected.
He is not watching from a balcony in heaven while we figure life out on our own.
He is here. In the center of it. Working. Moving. Weaving.
And even when we can’t trace His hand, we can trust His heart.
Providence means this:
Not one tear you've cried has been wasted.
Not one moment of pain has slipped through His fingers.
Not one broken chapter of your story is beyond His ability to redeem.
Let’s be honest — life is hard.
You pray and the healing doesn’t come.
You give and love and forgive, but they still walk away.
You try to be strong, but the diagnosis rocks your world.
You lose someone you love, and it feels like the ground beneath you has collapsed.
And that’s when the enemy whispers the lie:
“This is meaningless.”
“This is punishment.”
“God forgot you.”
“He’s done with you.”
But let me speak the truth louder than that lie: God has never taken His eyes off of you — not for one second.
What feels like silence is often strategy.
What feels like delay is often development.
What feels like abandonment is actually a set-up for divine glory.
Think about this…
Was it just a coincidence that Ruth wandered into Boaz’s field — or was God orchestrating her redemption through a lineage that would one day give birth to Christ?
Was it just unfortunate that Paul was imprisoned — or was it the stage God used to spread the gospel across the Roman Empire?
Was it just bad luck that Jesus was betrayed and crucified — or was it the very plan God had from the beginning to save the world?
God’s providence is not always understood in the moment — but it is always revealed in time.
Looking back, we often see that what we thought was the end was actually the beginning.
The closed door wasn’t rejection — it was protection.
The loss wasn’t pointless — it was preparation.
The storm wasn’t a curse — it was a course correction.
God doesn’t waste anything.
Not the tears.
Not the detours.
Not the heartbreak.
Not the silence.
And because He is intentional, you are never forgotten.
That disappointment that left you crushed? It may have been the very thing that positioned you for something greater.
That prayer He didn’t answer the way you wanted? It may have been the protection you didn’t even know you needed.
That relationship that didn’t work out? It may have been the hand of God clearing the path for something that aligns with His best.
This is the kind of faith that carries you through: not faith in what you can see, but faith in the character of God — the One who sees the whole story, even when all you see is the torn page in front of you.
So today, if you're in the middle of something that doesn’t make sense — breathe.
You don’t have to pretend it doesn’t hurt.
You don’t have to understand it all.
You just have to trust the One who does.
One day — maybe not today, maybe not even soon — but one day, you’ll look back and see how God’s hand was all over it. You’ll see how the heartbreak made room for healing. How the loss made space for intimacy with Him. How the silence became a classroom for deeper faith. And how even in your darkest valley — He never left your side.
He is a God of purpose.
A God who never wastes a single thing.
Prayer:
Lord, sometimes our heart feels heavy and confused. We don’t always understand why things happen the way they do, and it’s hard not to question or fear. But today, we lay our uncertainty before You. We trust that You are intentional — even when we don’t see the plan. Thank You for being a God who doesn’t waste anything, not even our pain. Strengthen our faith. Remind us that You are working all things for good — not just the easy things, but all things. We choose to rest in Your providence, knowing that You are writing a story with purpose and beauty, even in the brokenness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
