Love One Another
“For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous.” 1 John 3:11–12
A Call to Love
From the very beginning, God’s message has been simple and clear: love one another. It’s not complicated, though it isn’t always easy. Love is the heartbeat of our faith—the way we show we belong to God and reflect His light into the world.
John gives us a contrast. Where love gives life, evil seeks to silence, to divide, to push out the light. Cain let jealousy and bitterness harden his heart until it silenced his brother’s voice. That’s what evil does—it drowns out love, it pushes against the light, and it tries to steal the voice God gave you to reflect His goodness.
Guarding Your Voice
But you don’t have to let evil win. You don’t have to let hatred, anger, or fear rob you of your voice. God gave you a voice to sing His praises, to speak life, to encourage others, to testify to His love. The world needs to hear that voice—not silenced by bitterness, not muted by darkness, but alive with the sound of love.
The Light Always Shines
When we love God and love others, we are choosing light. Evil may try to press in, but darkness has no power to overcome the light of Christ within you. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you—and that light cannot be extinguished.
So today, hold fast to the message you’ve heard from the beginning: love one another. Let that love be the answer when bitterness whispers. Let light be your reply when darkness presses in. And let your voice—God’s gift to you—speak life, grace, and truth.
Reflection Question:
Where is God asking you today to let love be louder than resentment, jealousy, or fear?
Prayer:
Lord, help me keep my heart open to love You and love others. Protect my voice from being silenced by anger or bitterness. Let Your light shine through me, even when darkness tries to push in. May I reflect Your love in all I say and do. Amen.
